Baby knits

So a while back I posted a cute pink baby headband, this head band was simple to make and made a great present. However it could be made it a greater gift by adding in these adorable mittens and booties.

Knitted in double knit weight wool on 4mm needles.

The mittens were rather simple to make, relying on a series of decreasing stitches and a basic hole making stitch for the ribbon to go through. The booties however proved a challenge due to the shaping required. The shaping required me to hold the side stitches while knitting the top as normal. Then I had to pick up stitches round this newly formed top which I had never done before. Once this was done I knitted the bottom is straight knit stitch and then sewed close to form the boot.

All in all I’m rather proud of these since they are the most complex knitting i’ve done yet. What do you think?

Phone sock

So a while back I made this phone cover for my iphone but I’ve changed phones since and forgot I had this.

It was made using simple stocking stitch and a change in colours. I created it in three pieces with the main two being just under double the size of the headphone pocket piece. I choose to use blue, purple and white due to that being all i had in at the time but you could use any colours you wanted.

Knitted headband for a new born

So this is something I found round my room that I knitted ages ago. Its a simple cute headband for a new born baby, prefect for your own child or a present for someone you know.

I made this by knitting a strip of wool until it was 2 inches larger than the babies head. I then knitted a inch long piece the same width to use as the middle of the bow. Then I sewed together the two ends of the long piece and folded them back on themselves to make the bow.  I sewed this in place and then covered the centre with the short piece. Beautifully simple and quick to knock up.
